Can I Get My Surgery Done During the Corona Pandemic?

Medical Spa in Phoenix, AZCosmetic surgery and other elective procedures were briefly restricted due to the Corona pandemic. This was done in an effort to ensure the safety of both patients and medical staff. However, Governor Ducey recently removed these restrictions, allowing practices to administer elective surgery procedures starting May 1st.

The short answer is yes, you can get your surgery done during the Coronavirus pandemic. However, you will only be able to do so if facilities, staff and patients meet the following criteria:

  • Facilities must have a minimum of a 14 day supply of personal protective equipment, as well as enough beds and working staff members.
  • All healthcare workers and patients will need to be tested prior to surgery.
  • Waiting areas and other populated spaces will require an enhanced cleaning process to ensure the safety of patients and visitors.
  • Facilities must prioritize elective procedures based on urgency, and will have to receive approval from the Department of Health Services before resuming treatments.

These guidelines have been put in place to ensure that both healthcare workers and patients can receive care without putting their health at risk.
