Labiaplasty (Labia Reduction) in Phoenix, AZ

The bedroom is the last place you want to feel self-conscious and awkward. Unfortunately, many women are plagued with those very feelings because of elongated or asymmetrical genitalia. If this is you and you live in or around the Greater Phoenix area, such as Ahwatukee, Chandler and Gilbert, contact board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Larry C. Leverett to discuss labiaplasty, a procedure that reconstructs the female genitalia. Let Dr. Leverett help you regain your confidence in the bedroom.

What is Labiaplasty?

Labiaplasty, also known as vaginal rejuvenation, is a cosmetic surgical procedure to reconstruct the female genitalia to make it more proportionate and symmetrical. The inner walls of the vagina (labia) can often be naturally elongated causing discomfort, tenderness, and soreness. Labiaplasty may be done to improve appearance, comfort and sensitivity to stimulation.

How Much Does Labiaplasty Cost?

The cost for labiaplasty will vary from patient to patient depending on the extent of surgery. Dr. Leverett offers financing through CareCredit® and Prosper Healthcare Lending. Our office also accepts Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, cash and cashier’s checks.

Benefits of Labiaplasty

Labiaplasty improves the aesthetic appearance of the female genitalia. Many women report the benefits including:

  • Less pain and discomfort during intercourse
  • Greater self-esteem
  • Prevents embarrassment during intimacy
  • Creates a neater and more trimmed appearance to the labia

Candidates for Labiaplasty

If you have naturally elongated or asymmetrical genitalia, labiaplasty may be right for you. Women who have given birth and have experienced changes in the appearance of their labia may opt for labiaplasty to reconstruct their genitalia.

What Happens During Labiaplasty?

Labiaplasty is an outpatient procedure performed under general anesthesia. A scalpel is used to trim the vaginal lips. Small, dissolvable sutures are used to close up the incision. An antibiotic ointment is applied to protect against infection and promote healing. The surgical area is also bandaged with padding to prevent irritation. Labiaplasty usually takes less than two hours.

Recovery from Labiaplasty

Full recovery from a labiaplasty will take at least a month. Following surgery, you will experience discomfort and swelling that can be managed using over-the-counter medication. A special panty liner will need to be worn for up to two weeks because of possible bleeding. You should also not shower for at least 24 hours after your labiaplasty. Sexual activity should be avoided for six weeks.

Choosing to have a labiaplasty is a highly personal decision. Board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Larry C. Leverett will answer all your questions and put you at ease. If you live in or around the Greater Phoenix area, such as Ahwatukee, Chandler and Gilbert, contact our Phoenix, AZ office today to schedule your consultation.
