Mini Tummy Tuck in Phoenix, AZ

Trying to achieve a sculpted, flat stomach is not always as easy as eating right and exercising. For many, the abdominal region of the body can be a constant challenge. A tummy tuck is usually able to help you define your abs, however, you may only need to focus on your lower midsection with a mini tummy tuck. Board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Larry C. Leverett offers mini tummy tuck surgery to the residents of Chandler, Gilbert, Ahwatukee and the surrounding areas of Phoenix.

What is a Mini Tummy Tuck?

Similar to a traditional tummy tuck (abdominoplasty), a mini tummy tuck removes loose skin and fat from the abdominal region. However, a mini tummy only focuses on the lower portion of the abdomen between the belly button and pubic area. This procedure is less invasive than a normal tummy tuck, making recovery shorter. During a mini tummy tuck, the belly button does not have to be repositioned or reconstructed.

How Much Does a Mini Tummy Tuck Cost?

The cost of a mini tummy tuck will vary depending on the extent of surgery. Dr. Leverett offers financing through CareCredit® and Prosper Healthcare Lending. Our office also accepts Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, cash and cashier’s checks.

Benefits of a Mini Tummy Tuck

Mini tummy tucks offer similar benefits as a traditional tummy tuck, along with a few individual ones. Mini tummy tucks offer the following benefits:

  • Removes excess fat and skin from the lower abdominal region
  • Does not require the naval to be repositioned or reconstructed
  • Evens out the contours of the midsection
  • Less invasive procedure with a smaller incision than a full tummy tuck
  • Shorter recovery time than a full tummy tuck
  • Improves self-esteem

Candidates for a Mini Tummy Tuck

Good candidates for a mini tummy tuck include individuals who have a moderate amount of excess fat and skin located below the naval that is resistant to diet and exercise. These patients are in good shape and are at a steady weight. People who have lost a substantial amount of skin elasticity as a result of genetics, weight loss or pregnancy are also good candidates for a mini tummy tuck.

What Happens During a Mini Tummy Tuck?

A mini tummy tuck is performed on an outpatient basis with general anesthesia. Dr. Leverett begins by making an incision low in your pubic area. He then removes skin and excess fat from the lower central part of your abdomen. And finally, he tightens the muscles in your midline up to your naval before suturing you closed. Liposuction sometimes accompanies this procedure resulting in a tighter, flatter and firmer abdomen.

Recovery from a Mini Tummy Tuck

Most patients experience a little discomfort near the incision site. Any pain can be controlled with over-the-counter medication. You can expect to return to work within a few days. However, you should refrain from heavy lifting or any strenuous activities for several weeks to allow the tightened muscles to heal fully.

If you have that little bit of excess fat around your midsection that you just can’t get rid of no matter how hard you diet and excise, a mini tummy tuck may be the solution for you. If you are living in or around the Greater Phoenix area, such as Ahwatukee, Chandler and Gilbert, and are considering cosmetic or reconstructive surgery, contact our office today to schedule your consultation.
