Am I a Candidate for a Brow Lift or a Blepharoplasty?

Brow Lift in Phoenix, AZThe eyes are one of the most important features of the face, as they help to convey a wide range of expressions in both professional and personal situations. As a result, if you feel as though your eyes are looking more tired or aged than they should, you may also feel as though you are not able to express yourself as accurately and fully as you would like. Fortunately, a brow lift or a blepharoplasty can work wonders to take years off of the face and help you convey yourself as honestly as possible. But which one is best for you, and are you a candidate for either? Here is what makes a good candidate for a brow lift or a blepharoplasty.

Brow Lift Candidates

Although not as well known as blepharoplasty, a brow lift is highly successful for patients who may have excess upper eyelid skin as a result of a drooping brow. As we age, the brow may begin to fall, leading to excess skin above the eye. If not properly assessed, patients may believe they need an eyelid lift, when in reality, the problem has arisen much higher on the face than that. If this procedure is right for you, Dr. Leverett will make an incision in the scalp to lift the deeper layers of the forehead and create a more youthful appearance. Bruising and swelling is normal but will subside within 10 to 14 days.

Blepharoplasty Candidates

For some patients, the excess skin does originate with the eyelids. If it is determined that this is the case with your body, blepharoplasty is an effective procedure for creating the appearance of more rejuvenated, brightened eyes. During the procedure, the excess skin and fat are removed and small sutures are used to close the incisions. Although bruising and swelling are common, many patients are able to return to their normal routine after five to 10 days of recovery.

Which Procedure Do I Need?

Ultimately, brow lift and blepharoplasty are excellent options for individuals who are struggling with excess skin above the eyes or a lowered brow line as a result of the natural aging process. However, the best way to determine which procedure you need is to schedule a consultation. During your appointment, Dr. Leverett will perform a thorough evaluation, offering his professional opinion on which procedure will be most beneficial for your unique concerns.
