What Can I Expect from My Microneedling Treatments?
Three to five microneedling treatments are needed to best improve the cosmetic concerns. Each treatment will take 15 to 30 minutes. A topical numbing cream is used for the treatment. Dr. Leverett uses the SkinPen device to create the microinjuries in the skin, which involves no heat, chemicals or other irritants. Patients can achieve results with as little as three treatments. Ideally, these treatments are performed 30 days apart and produce results that last up to 6 months after your final treatment session.
After the Microneedling Treatment
Your skin will have a slightly red appearance immediately after the microneedling treatment, and the skin may feel sensitive. Using an ice pack helps alleviate these symptoms. You may have slight bleeding from the microinjuries, especially if the treatment targets the deeper layers of skin. The redness will last one to two days. You should use sunscreen and avoid any abrasive skin treatments for the first 48 to 72 hours after your microneedling treatment.
