Certain areas of the body can be resistant to diet and exercise, leaving unflattering fatty deposits. Liposuction can help eliminate those fatty deposits and give you the toned, sculpted body you desire. Located in Phoenix and serving Chandler, Ahwatukee, Glendale, Maricopa County, Mesa, Scottsdale, Tempe, and Gilbert and surrounding areas, Dr. Leverett of Body By Leverett performs liposuction on patients who want a slimmer, more toned appearance.
What is Liposuction?
Liposuction is technically known as “lipoplasty” or “suction lipectomy.” It is a procedure that can help sculpt the body by removing unwanted fat from specific areas, including the abdomen, hips, buttocks, thighs, knees, upper arms, back, chin, cheeks, and neck. The best liposuction candidates are people with a normal weight and firm, elastic skin who have pockets of excess fat in certain body areas.
How Much Does Liposuction Cost?
The cost for liposuction will vary from patient to patient depending on the extent of surgery and the amount of fat being removed. To help make liposuction more affordable and accessible to his patients, Dr. Leverett offers financing through CareCredit® and Prosper Healthcare Lending. Our office also accepts Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, cash and cashier’s checks.
Benefits of Liposuction
The main benefit of liposuction is that it produces a thinner, more attractive appearance. It helps when diet and exercise are ineffective. Along with creating a slimmer figure, liposuction offers the following benefits:
- Improves body image
- Removes stubborn fatty deposits
- Reduces diabetes, heart disease, and other health-related issued caused by excess weight
- Gives the body a shapelier figure
- Eliminates the appearance of cellulite
The Liposuction Procedure
During liposuction, Dr. Leverett makes several small incisions, through which he inserts a surgical instrument called a cannula. This device helps dislodge and suction out the unwanted fat cells. The incisions are closed with a dissolvable suture that is approximately the size of a pencil eraser. The procedure is done on an outpatient basis and under general anesthesia. Patients are placed in a compression garment following surgery. Most patients will wear a compression-based garment for four to six weeks
Liposuction Recovery
While the treated areas will be swollen following the procedure, the swelling typically lasts a matter of days. Most patients reach their final result within six to eight week of the procedure. Bruising is to be expected. To help prevent this, Dr. Leverett has patients start anti-bruising remedies prior to surgery. Many patients return to work in seven to 10 days depending on the physical requirements of their job.
Liposuction Expectations
Liposuction is designed to contour various areas of the body and can “debulk” stubborn areas of fat. It does not improve loose skin, cellulite or textural characteristics of the skin.

Am I a Candidate for Liposuction?
If you have unwanted fat in specific areas of your body that are proving to be resistant to diet and exercise, you may be a good candidate for liposuction. Liposuction is not to be used as a means for weight loss. If you are within 10 to 15 pounds of your ideal weight, in good health and want a more toned appearance, liposuction may be right for you.
