Top Five Questions Patients Have About Breast Augmentation

Breast Augmentation & Implants in Phoenix, AZWhen planning to undergo any type of surgery, you’re always going to have questions. We want to make sure you feel as informed as possible before booking your breast augmentation with Dr. Leverett, so we decided to share with you our top five most frequently asked questions about breast augmentation.

1. What Can I Expect During my Breast Augmentation?

Dr. Leverett uses a special dual-plane technique when performing his breast augmentation, which means you can expect to experience a more natural appearance with minimal drooping and minimal scarring. Feel free to browse through our breast augmentation before and after photos to see your potential results when getting a breast augmentation by Dr. Leverett.

2. What Bra Should I Wear After Breast Augmentation?

After your breast augmentation, you’re going to want to make sure you get a bra that is both comfortable and breathable, as you will have to wear it throughout your recovery process. We recommend something with a wide elastic band across the bottom to help with support. It’s important that you do not wear a bra with an underwire. The underwire in a bra can disrupt the positioning of your breasts after surgery.

3. Is Breast Augmentation Painful?

Following your breast augmentation, you will experience swelling and minor bruising around the breasts. This generally subsides after the first few weeks. Many of our patients also experience feeling pressure on their chest, as if someone is pushing down on their sternum. This discomfort is also normal and should subside over time as well. Make sure to follow Dr. Leverett’s post-operative care instructions carefully to minimize any discomfort you may feel.

4. Do Breast Implants Feel Like Real Breasts?

Absolutely! Breast implants have come a long way over the years and are no longer the products you remember resembling water balloons on your chest. Nowadays, both saline and silicone breast implants mimic the look and feel of natural breasts more than ever before. There is also a line of silicone implants affectionately named “gummy bear” implants that come in various shapes to mimic the appearance of natural breasts.

5. Do I need a Breast Lift with my Breast Augmentation?

The answer to this question ultimately depends on where your breasts currently lay on your chest and your desired results. Ask Dr. Leverett for his opinion during your one-on-one consultation. He’ll assess your current situation, listen to your concerns and develop a customized treatment plan for you to help you achieve your desired look.
