How Much Time Do I Need to take Off from Going to the Gym?

Exercise is part of a healthy lifestyle, and an enjoyable way to feel good about your body from the inside out. However, if you are preparing to undergo a surgical procedure, your normal routine—including your exercise schedule—will have to be adjusted. Many of our patients are curious as to how much time they will need to take off from going to the gym. To help you get a better idea, here is some general information on how long recovery will take for each of our most popular procedures:

Tummy Tuck

Plastic Surgery in Phoenix, AZAlthough a tummy tuck is incredibly effective at slimming and toning the abdomen, it does impact the core—one of the key regions for strength and mobility in the body. As a result, you can expect to take six to eight weeks off from your regular workout routine, to give your body plenty of time to heal.

Breast Augmentation

Also known as mammoplasty, breast augmentation is the most popular cosmetic surgery in the country. With an efficient recovery time, many patients are able to return to the gym after four weeks.

Breast Lift

An effective procedure for women struggling with sagging breasts, a breast lift is often combined with breast augmentation to create a more aesthetically pleasing shape. For those undergoing a breast lift, it is usually safe to resume exercise after four to six weeks.

Mommy Makeover

A convenient choice for women seeking to address multiple body concerns simultaneously, mommy makeovers are known for reducing overall recovery time. When it comes to getting back to the gym, expect to do so only after six weeks post-operation.

Facelift

As one of the most common and trusted methods for turning back time and taking years off of the face, many patients find their facelift recovery to be less challenging than expected. In many cases, patients will need just five to six weeks away from the gym to support their recovery.

Rhinoplasty

A perennially-beloved procedure, rhinoplasty can transform the look of your face and dramatically improve your confidence. Typically, patients are able to ease back into their exercise routine five to six weeks after their procedure.
